The Ruth House Annual “Purses of Purpose” Ladies Tea was held Saturday, March 16, from 9-12:30 p.m. at Adventure Christian Church in Tavares and features a luncheon, designer purse auction, raffle and speaker.
For five years running, this event has been a major community fundraiser to support the Ruth House, a transitional shelter for women located in Umatilla, Fla. This year Purses for purpose raised $14,000.
According to Ruth House Director, Rebecca Randall, this is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a designer purse at a good price as well as support a worthy cause. “If there is a woman in need, we are here to embrace her and help bring her to a place of wholeness,” says Randall.
Tickets for the event are $25 per guest. Participants may also register to be a table hostess and compete in the table decorating contests. Prizes will be given for the Most Elegant, Most Unique and All Around Favorite table. Set-up begins 8:30 a.m. the day of the tea with judging at 10 a.m. and winners announced shortly after.
Event sponsorships are available with Bronze at $50, Silver $150 and Gold $250.
